Monaco Blue Bridesmaid Dresses: Let’s start with a little inspiration. There are many subtle shades of Monaco Blue! We are using the gorgeous image by Rainer Brunotte below for our inspiration. It goes without saying that the best way to get inspired when using Monaco Blue as a color choice is to go right to the source…. the actual coast of Monaco!
The ultra talented Monsieur Brunotte has certainly captured the many beautiful hues of Monaco Blue in his image of Monaco at Night below.
Monaco blue leans towards navy of course, but there is a bit of twilight that comes through in the color. It tends to give a little more depth to the “blue’ hue, which makes it a great color to use in weddings! It is so easy to pair complimentary colors with, as well as accent colors. It gives a great design base of course, and with lighter airy fabrics can even add a bit of romance to the style of the dress. Choosing a Monaco Blue bridesmaid dresses will work in any length and season, adding instant elegance, especially in chiffon. We’ve pushed the envelope a bit with a few different shades to see how far you can go with your wedding style and design. The color combinations are endless with Monaco Blue!
Just looking at a few examples in the J.Crew Bridesmaid Dress line, one can see the versatility of this beautiful Monaco Blue (Cove Blue in J.Crew speak:) for a bridesmaid dress choice. Pairing it with navy, blacks, and grays in groomsmen’s attire. You can even stretch it towards the Royal Blue side of the hue in keeping with the inspiration depicted in Mr. Brunotte’s image above.
We’ve created our first Style, Inspiration, & Design Collage leaning towards the Royal Blue hue of Monaco Blue. We used Mr. Brunotte’s image for our inspiration in creating this look. We paired a fabulous vintage Monaco Blue dress with a pop suede burnt orange heel, pulling the burnt orange from the sunset in Mr. Brunotte’s image against the Monaco Coastline. We added a soft all-white peony bouquet to mirror the texture in the shoe and the dress. Keeping the bouquet all in 1 color keeps the look simple, elegant, and contemporary with the use of the vintage dress. Even with the very bright color of Monaco Blue in the dress and pop of orange in the heel, the soft, traditional peony bouquet adds a bit of romance to the look.
Style Tip: Remember the more movement your dress has, whether it be in fabric or detail, the more you want your shoe and accessories to be simplified so the look of the ensemble is not overwhelming to the eye.
Kim Kardashian is stunning in this Monaco Blue chiffon gown. We were so inspired by this look and the red carpet in the image, we created the below collage. The Monaco Blue really works beautifully with bright red, and poppy red!
If you love vintage and still want to keep it trendy, try adding a contemporary Jimmy Choo Strappy Sandal to give the look a little more edge. (see how we kept the look grounded again with a simple white bouquet) ~ We love this look!
For another look, we are going back to Kim Kardashian, this time in Vera Wang. Monaco Blue is a great color choice for Ms. Kardashian, she really pulls it off beautifully and elegantly. Trendy metallic accessories and a pop of red in lip color is all she needed to complete the look.
Style Tip: Remember to coordinate your accessories so the ensemble does not appear to look too “busy”.
Are Blue and Green your “colors” ? Do you want to play it safe with your bridesmaid look?
Keep it simple! Introduce the “green” in the actual greens in your bouquet. Easy!
Choose gorgeous soft airy fabric and add length to the dress. This will immediately say “elegant & romantic”! Simplify your bouquet, add a simple metallic J.Crew strappy sandal… and your done~!
Love vintage? Choose a vintage looking fabric like linen and pair it with a contemporary neutral heel with texture to add a little edge to the look. Using a traditional peony bouquet in bright pink keeps the look trendy, romantic, & sophisticated.
…..We love this Monique Lhuiller Monaco Blue Bridesmaid Dress (Nordstrom.com)!
Using the Monique Lhuiller dress as inspiration, we paired the traditional design of the dress with a bright mix of florals in the bridesmaid bouquet, and added a neutral contemporary heel to complete the look. Choosing a traditional design in the dress creates the base for the ensemble. That way you can have fun with a pop of color in the florals and the design of the shoe. This keeps the look streamlined, and also up to date at the same time!
Still can’t decide on your “color” ? Try using the Monaco Blue in an accent in a print bridesmaid dress or in a beautiful ribbon accessory in the look.
Love this look!
Style tip: When using the print fabric bridesmaid look, remember to choose fabric that is romantic and airy to keep your look elegant. Using muted tones and prints are best. Keep the pop of color in the florals, and just in 1 accessory to keep the ensemble from overwhelming the eye.
