Here’s the latest installment in our Bridesmaid Dresses: “Color” Story……As a recap, (scroll down if you’ve read the “intro” to this article in the past) we’ve included the Pantone Color Guide for new visitors. If you are just visiting for the first time, and you would like to research a different color than the one in the below segment, please see our Archives for our previous Color articles.
Using Carafe-Brown for your wedding and bridesmaid dresses, one can see how gorgeous it would be paired with neutrals with similar tones. Brown goes with anything and is a wonderful base color for any wedding!
It seems to get overlooked and classified as a more casual color, but we are here to show you how elegant it can be!
Worried about Carafe-Brown working for all your bridesmaids?
From Blonde to Brunnette, Carafe-Brown is gorgeous with everyone’s coloring too. In the above collage, Carey Mulligan, Emma Watson, & Mila Kunis all pull off wearing Pantone’s Carafe-Brown just beautifully and elegantly.
Pantone’s Carafe-Brown makes such a wonderful base which you can really stretch into many different mood directions. Choosing the soft-pastel accessories will give softer, more romantic feel, or pairing it with bright pops of color keeps your look more contemporary. No matter which colors you pair with Carafe-Brown, it will be gorgeous. It is so easy to pair complimentary colors with, as well as accent colors.
In the above Style, Inspiration, & Design collage, one can see how elegant Carafe-Brown is for a bridesmaid dress choice. Pairing it with a silver strappy sandal and soft florals ensures traditional elegance in your bridesmaids’ style.
Keeping on-trend in the above Style, Inspiration, & Design collage, we started with a Peplum Dress in a little lighter hue and paired it with Brown Christian Louboutins, adding a little pop of brighter pink in the bouquet which makes the look lean more towards the contemporary.
We’ve created our next Style, Inspiration, & Design Collage with a lovely Chiffon J.Crew dress paired with a Stuart Weizman strappy sandal. Adding a mixed colored soft floral bouquet with sepia tones gives this look elegance, and could even work for late summer months into autumn. Keeping the color of the florals in soft neutrals is so romantic and elegant!
Love the Carafe-Brown but planning a Spring or Summer wedding? No worries at all! Use the dress in a shorter length and flowing fabric, add a neutral strappy sandal and have your florist create a bouquet with bright florals in similar tones. If you want the look to ooze romance, ask your florist to use flowers with soft petals.
Real Planner Tip: Bring your florist a swatch from your dress, it will make it easier for them to design & coordinate making your bridesmaid bouquet an “accessory” rather than just another floral piece to your wedding.
Choosing a Carafe-Brown bridesmaid dress will work in any length and season, adding instant elegance. In this Style, Inspiration, & Design collage we’ve introduced some bright coral florals to give it a more “summery” look. Adding a fab neutral Badgley Mischka strappy sandal lightens the feel of the ensemble and gives the bridal party an understated elegant look.
In the above collage we kept the same dress but changed it up adding another Badgley Mischka strappy sandal, but softened the bouquet a bit. This look would work for any season, Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter. Classic, Traditional, and Elegant.
Is your style is Rustic-Vintage? Change out the strappy sandals and add some rustic cowboy boots. Done! and Adorable. Adding a more stylized dress gives contrast to the ensemble and keeping the boots in the same hue of the Carafe-Brown will keep the look tied together without making it look overly whimsical.
Love the Carafe-Brown but want to give your bridesmaid look a little more “oomph”? Try adding a pattern to the dress !
Polka-dots are fun and with the Carafe-Brown can be just as elegant. Pair it with a solid brown peep-toe pump and adding brighter florals is a great look for Fall.
Style Tip: When using a patterned bridesmaid dress, remember to keep your floral design uncomplicated for your bouquets or the look with overwhelm the eye. (see above “Real Planner Tip” about dress swatches for your florist).
Choosing Carafe-Brown is such a wonderful choice for your bridesmaid ensemble, choose a dress with clean, simple lines. Pairing the dress with sepia toned soft floral bouquets allows a little more freedom with floral texture, and keeps the look very clean and contemporary. Just image how you will stand out in your white dress against this fabulous color palette!
In the above collage, we paired a lovely beaded dress with beautiful texture, and paired it with gold-toned Badgley Mischka strappy sandal. Keeping the florals in 1 color allows for the extra design detail in the dress without overpowering the look. We chose the gold strappy sandal to mirror the beading in the dress subtley.
For the Rustic-Vintage look….Change out the strappy sandals and add some rustic cowboy boots.
Adding cowboy boots to this look is a fun choice, the contrast of the rustic boots against the elegance of the beading in the dress and the romantic sepia-toned floral bouquet works perfectly!
Design Tip: You can add a bit of mix to the color of your bouquet as long as you keep the hues in all the same “tone” this way it won’t look too busy.
Pantone’s Carafe-Brown is such a versatile “feel” of a color. From Traditional Elegance, to Urban Contemporary, to Rustic-Vintage, it works so well in all styles and themes.… have fun with it!
