Here we go!
As a recap, (scroll down if you’ve read the “intro” to this article in the past) we’ve included the Pantone Color Guide for new visitors. If you are just visiting for the first time, and you would like to research a different color than the one in the below segment, please see our Archives for our previous Color articles.
Coral! Let’s start with a little inspiration. The many subtle shades Yellow are all beautifully captured in this painting by Iris Lehnhardt below.
Coral lends a certain contemporary feel and gives a beautiful design base of any wedding. However choosing any Coral for your bridesmaid dresses will work in any length and season, adding instant elegance, especially in chiffon. If you are looking for a brighter Coral, or deeper Coral hue for your bridesmaid dresses, keep reading! We have several different “Corals” included in this article. We also have a Real Wedding we (Lisa Sammons Events) planned & designed in Coral & Navy in our archives here.
Just looking at a few examples we’ve put together from Polyvore, one can see the versatility of Coral as a bridesmaid dress choice. Pairing it with navy, blacks, and grays in Groomsmen attire is easy and beautiful! If your vision is to keep the look “simply romantic” as illustrated in the below image, it’s easy to just add a simple metallic shoe to carry on the elegant feel created by the chiffon fabric in coral.
Choosing a dress in traditional wedding fabric like chiffon, silk duponi, or linen is lovely and traditional.
Real Wedding Planner Style Tip: Keep the shoes in a muted complimentary color and introduce the bright “Pop” of color in the bridesmaid bouquet. Using a traditional dress and shoe style, and adding a contemporary bouquets brings the look forward and on trend, even with a traditional choice in style of bridesmaid dress.
Love Coral but feel like it’s too “bright” for your bridemaid dresses?
Real Wedding Planner Style & Design Tip: Keep the look understated by choosing a bridesmaid dress in a neutral color, and just add the Coral “pop” to the bouquet! Let the flowers do the talking!
Choosing a shift dress style version of a Coral bridesmaid dress still keeps the elegant-romantic style, as well as providing comfort to all your bridesmaids. This style dress works for everyone, even the most body-conscience bridesmaid, and keeping the florals simple and in the same hue as the Coral dress, keeps the focus on the Bride.
With the beautiful flowing look of chiffon & pairing it with a simple Badgley Mischka metallic strappy sandal, allows for a movement in the bouquet if you want to introduce a pop of color! Sophisticated and traditional, this look would work beautifully for late summer or an early fall wedding.
If you love coral and still want to keep it trendy, try adding a contemporary-styled dress to give the look a little more edge.
Real Wedding Planner Tip: Keep the bouquet in soft tones mirroring the hue of the dress. This will keep your bridesmaids’ ensemble’s base “look” romantic, but your “pop” will be in the actual design of the dress without overwhelming the eye with the bridesmaid dress-style “pop”.
Love Vintage but having trouble sourcing the “real thing” for your bridal party? …..Try adding a Skater Dress -Style dress with a vintage-style fabric! This Coral dress from Forever Unique is adorable. Pair it simply with a soft ivory or cream white bridesmaid bouquet and a coral pump to keep the look clean and understated. There are so many beautiful vintage choices in Coral. Real Wedding Planner Advice: Try Polyvore, Etsy & Modcloth for leads.
Real Wedding Planner Style Tip: Keep the jewelry to a minimum with this fabric and dress design. The pearl encrusted collar acts as a necklace, so just simple earrings for your girls and at the most an understated, elegant bracelet is all you’ll need to complete this ensemble. Choosing a traditional design in the shoe keeps the look streamlined and also up to date at the same time. Real Wedding Planner Advice: Remember, if you are having trouble sourcing quantities in Vintage bridesmaid dresses for your bridal party, look for dresses with a Vintage looking fabric….overlays, lace, and prints speak “Vintage”! and will give you that eclectic feel you are looking for.
Still can’t decide on your “colors” but love Coral? Try using the Coral as the base of your look and choose a striking accent color for the shoe. In the above Style, Inspiration, & Design Collage we paired the above v-neck sleeveless bridesmaid dress in coral with a pretty Country-Blue Heel. Use a pop of the same blue in your bouquet ties the whole look together making it look romantic and traditional.
Real Wedding Planner Style Tip: Introduce the pop of blue in the groomsmen’s attire in a bow tie and pocket-square! Having both the country blue and coral represented in the mixed floral bouquet “ties” both bridal party ensembles together. Love this look!
Worried how Coral will look on all your bridesmaids? Take a look at the above collage of Ms. Kardashian, Ms. Danes, Ms. Alba, & Ms. Diaz! All very different complexions and hair colors, and coral is just lovely on all of them!
Choosing Coral doesn’t mean you have to be prim, proper, or traditional in your Style either! If your Style is Rustic-Country-Chic, Coral works beautifully!
Real Wedding Planner Style Tip: Keep your fabrics and florals in traditional textures and it will allow for the contrast of the Rustic choice of cowboy boot with your dresses!
For Summer months, punching up the tone of the Coral making it a bit brighter will make the look more trendy and contemporary.Try choosing a traditionally designed Style of dress, but look for something with an interesting fabric to make your bridesmaids’ Style look unique. When choosing this look, remember to keep the jewelry understated so as not to overwhelm the ensemble. Choosing a traditional design in the shoe keeps the look streamlined and anchors the bridesmaids’ ensemble.
Using the mixed-neckline/bridesmaid dress look in this bridal party is beautiful! Keep the hairstyles carefree & the jewelry to a minimum. Keeping the bridesmaid dresses’ length unified and the bouquet in one color allows for the extra movement depicted in the different style & subtle hue differences in the dresses (and shoes).
Real Wedding Planner Style Tip: Choosing 1 solid color for bridesmaids’ floral bouquets draws the eye directly to the similarities of the bridesmaid ensembles as a whole unit, and then back immediately to the Bride, as it should be!!
Whatever Coral Bridesmaid Dress Style you choose, remember to Have fun with it!
