We have received some wonderful fan mail lately … thank you so much! We love hearing from site visitors!
We’ve been receiving requests to write about wedding dress and groom’s suit combinations… so….
Here is the first article in our new wedding attire series.
We’ll turn this into an article series and tie in colors so you can find YOUR wedding color combination, so check back soon if you don’t see your wedding colors combination in this first segment of the article series.
We’re just getting started… and we are excited to put these looks together for you!
Here we go!
Let’s get warmed up with a little Bride Inspiration… Love this hair style … so pretty, and with the blush lace shoes .. Perfect! We used this brides Rose Gold from her engagement ring as inspiration in creating her “look” and subtly introduced her “Blush” to her wedding colors…
Just getting started… we’re slowly working you into adding the grooms… hang in there!!
….This Style, Inspiration, & Design collage shows how easy it is to pair blush pinks and creamy whites in this beautiful bride’s ensemble. The draped fabric and texture of the wedding dress is mirrored in the simple all-rose bouquet. Adding the lace texture in the shoe does not compete at all with the wedding dress. Simple, elegant, & very traditional.
Now let’s start adding some Groom “looks” to the Bride’s! This wedding dress is so elegant, as well the traditional choice of coordinating the Christian Louboutin sparkly peep-toe heels. There’s a lot going on with fabric & texture just in the wedding dress, which is fabulous of course! Choosing a simple shoe “style” to coordinate with the bling-sparkle in the wedding dress is the smart decision, especially if you want texture (sparkle!) in your shoe. We would even recommend toning down the bling a bit for this particular bride…. as in this Badgley Mischka peeptoe below.
Real Wedding Planner Advice & Style Tip: Keep the wedding bouquet simple and with unified texture as in the above all red peony bouquet. You can see from the image of the bride, that she has a simple updo, and very little accessories. It allows her dress to be the focal point and keeps the her look elegance and lovely and chic. Mirroring that same simplicity, the groom’s attire should be viewed as an accessory to this wedding “look” due to the texture in the wedding dress. As you can see from the above collage, choosing a casual suit in a lighter hue helps tone down the “feel” of the wedding making this a beautiful look for an outdoor wedding, a beach or seaside wedding, or even a summer indoor wedding.
Love color? Worried about it not being elegant enough?
Real Wedding Planner Advice: It’s all in the fabric. The above look would work beautifully for an outdoor tented wedding at a country club, an indoor hotel wedding, or even a rustic-vintage wedding in the middle of a field. If your family wants “traditional” but you want “casual” elegance, this is a great way to bridge the 2 styles to make everyone happy.
How about Rustic-Vintage-Country Weddings?
So beautiful!!… and absolutely proper. You will have no complaints from your parents with this look… Traditional Wedding dress, Cowboy boots (under long dress for ceremony time :)) and Stone-ground Mustard yellow vests with a bowtie for the Groom! These all tie together with a bouquet with the same color elements.
Real Wedding Planner Advice: With a texture-heavy bouquet, go with minimal accessories and put your hair up to ensure the wedding ensemble does not overwhelm the eye.
Back to traditional… let’s call this wedding style “Urban Elegance”… A gorgeous flowing wedding dress and a sparkly strappy sandal from Stuart Weitzman makes the decision for soft blush florals the correct choice for this combination. Having the Groom in a charcoal gray with a blush pink dress-shirt is a wonderful way to tie the look together. The choice of the Groom’s suit fabric is more on the “casual” side, which shows the way this couple bridged their 2 styles together beautifully.
Love this wedding look!... Grayed-White Dress, Soft Blush Bouquet with Pinks, Creamy Whites, and muted corals… Blush-Suede heels to add to the softness of the look, absolutely stunning. Adding a very traditional Black suit for the groom is a natural choice to pair with this gorgeous bride’s ensemble. This would work wonderfully for a very formal wedding, or even in a country setting. Remember, it’s your day, it will all work… that’s what you have your wedding planner for… to help everything look tied together. (and to help manage your events for you as well)
Love the texture of your wedding dress? Of course you do!
That’s 1 of the reasons you chose it… so why not pick that “style” up in other areas of your wedding!!
Real Wedding Planner Advice: Ask your baker to mirror the design of your wedding dress fabric in your wedding cake! And as always, your florist should be informed of your wedding dress fabric, style and color as well to ensure the florals are an “accessory” rather than the focal point of the day. (YOU are the focal point on your wedding day!!🙂 Using this Style, Inspiration, & Design collage as an example, the fabulous texture in the dress is picked up in the cake design, and mirrored subtly in the florals.
Remember to keep the florals simplied with you have this much texture in your dress.
Style Tip: Love texture and Color? ….Don’t be afraid of it!
We know your Groom is as fabulous as you are, that’s why you are marrying him!! So have your pop of color in his suit! This gorgeous Burgundy Tuxedo is not only trendy, but very traditional. Tie in the color with your wedding shoe choice… and you are done!
All of these suits can be found at J.Hilburn, so wonderful to work with! Here’s a quick link to get you started!
