Royal Blue and Cobalt Bridesmaid Dress Ideas with Bouquets & Shoes!
As a recap, (scroll down if you’ve read the “intro” to this article in the past) we’ve included the Pantone Color Guide for new visitors. If you are just visiting for the first time, and you would like to research a different color than the one in the below segment, please see our Archives for our previous Color articles.
The 2 “Blues” featured in this year’s Pantone Fall & Winter Wedding Color guide are Royal Blue and Bright Cobalt, and since so many of our “blue” brides and weddings are torn between the 2, we thought we’d include both Royal & Cobalt in the same article. Sometimes it helps the decision making process when you are trying to decide if you compare your choices back and forth for a bit…. so we hope this helps you!
We’ll start off as usual with the traditional style bridesmaid dresses, and then move through to some unique bridesmaid dress choices…. and we’ll also include some Real Wedding Planner Advice throughout this article as well. Starting off with the 2 images above, these are 2 beautifully draped sweetheart neckline chiffon dresses. On the left, Ralph Lauren, and the right, J.Crew.
Our first Style, Inspiration, & Design board is with another pretty version of this sweetheart neckline long royal blue bridesmaid dress in silk-chiffon (this time by Marchesa) we paired it with a traditional Badgley Mischka strappy sandal in silver and a pretty mixed floral bouquet with coral accents.
For brides with a contemporary style, we chose this cap-sleeved dress in Royal Blue and chose a pair of iridescent strappy sandals with the same contemporary vibe to mirror the style of the dress. A pretty white cymbidium bouquet with little touches of pink and yellow finish this bridesmaid ensemble.
We love the trendy waterfall design dresses for a unique bridesmaid choice this year. Pretty in Bright Cobalt, and traditional in chiffon, the draping in the neckline and in the skirt make this bridesmaid dress choice contemporary- traditional. To note the traditional even more, we chose a simple silver strappy sandal from J. Crew and a pretty raspberry colored floral bouquet to lend a little romance to the look.
Love the 1 shoulder look for this year’s bridesmaids. Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter, it works beautifully in short or long bridesmaid dress styles. This dress has a slight touch of periwinkle behind the Cobalt blue, but it was so pretty we had to include it in this article. We paired it with muted gold Jimmy Choo strappy sandals and a floral bouquet in mixed corals.
This silk dress with leather trim is fantastic for a unique bridesmaid dress choice in royal blue. Paired with silver gladiator-style strappy sandals and and a traditional hydrangea bridesmaid bouquet is easy.
Real Wedding Planner Advice: If you like this dress and your style is country-rustic, you can change up the feel of the ensemble easily by just adding a simple pair of cowboy boots in the same color leather as in the dress. Easy peezy!
Love Royal Blue & Cobalt but are you afraid it won’t look good with other colors?
Don’t be afraid! It looks great with everything. Here we have paired this pretty chiffon dress from ModCloth with pink Jimmy Choo peep-toe sling backs and a soft pink & coral bridesmaid bouquet. Royal Blue & Cobalt can still be romantic looking !
Real Wedding Planner Advice: If you love the bright hue of Royal Blue & Cobalt, but your wedding style is romantic... it will still work! Choose a bridesmaid dress in a traditional style with soft flowing fabrics. Keep your accessories on the pale side in color and choose your flowers for your bouquets in soft, muted petals and tones.
Modcloth.com isn’t just about Vintage-Country-style dresses. They have wonderful chic-contemporary styles as well. We put this look together for a recent client-bride who’s style is urban-chic.
Real Wedding Planner Advice: Help your budget by sourcing your bridesmaid dresses from a non-traditional bridesmaid dress retailer like ModCloth.com. This way, when you find that perfect fuschia Jimmy Choo pump to pair with it, it won’t break the bridesmaids’ ensemble budget.
This fabulous textured Skater-style dress is by Alexander McQueen in bright cobalt. Choosing a contemporary styled dress gives you a little more freedom with introducing another pop of color in your shoe. With these 2 striking colors and the texture in the dress, we kept the bridesmaid bouquet simple in greens and whites. We also chose hydrangeas in the bouquet to mirror the texture in the bridesmaid dress.
Same color-scheme, but changed up the dress design. Choosing a cute country-style dress and a pump gives this bridesmaid ensemble a vintage look. (dress from ModCloth.com)
Another skater-dress style option from ModCloth.com, but this time, with a pretty V-neck. This style dress is flattering on all body types. We added a cool-mint pump for a little pop color for whimsy with this bridesmaid look. Even with the pop of color and bright Royal Blue in the dress, the actual simplicity and clean lines of the dress allows for the addition of another color and more texture with the soft pink peony bouquet.
This traditional-styled dress in bright cobalt is from J.Crew. With the softer hue of cobalt, we paired with cool mint peep-toe pumps and a soft all white peony bouquet. Elegant, traditional – so wedding-y! But the pop of color in the cool mint shoe keeps the look up to date.
Love this dress from ModCloth!! So adorable. We added a little extra romance to the look by choosing a vintage-look bouquet in antiqued pink roses and a pair of silver strappy sandals from Stuart Weitzman.
Bright Cobalt works perfectly for Country-Rustic too!
Real Wedding Planner Advice: Choose your dress in a country-rustic design, and pair it with cowboy boots. And you can still have a bright pop of color in your bouquet with this look too!
Royal Blue & Cobalt is adorable in print dresses too! Don’t be afraid of being different!
We found this dress at ModCloth for one of our recent brides (her colors are Royal Blue and Bright Sunny Yellow). We paired this country-style dress with yellow flats and a pretty white and yellow bridesmaid bouquet. Her bridesmaids are so happy to be wearing flats on her wedding day!! So comfortable!!!
