How to decorate your table for your first holiday together
Planning your first holiday together is a special time of your life! With the holidays approaching, we wanted to start you off with a few ideas!
Here are 10 tables decor ideas to decorate your table for your first holiday together!
#1. Using your already existing china and flatware is the smartest thing to do, especially when first starting out. You can easily pick up a simple charger (see above wicker charger) and tie it into a country-rustic style tablescape.
#2. Decorating for autumn dinner parties or Thanksgiving is easy, gourds, small pumpkins, mums and dried leaves from your yard can make a beautiful backdrop to your table decor.
#3. Another easy way to make your table look a little more festive than usual is to pick up some simple gold chargers and literally tie the look together with gold ribbon mirroring the metallic of the gold charger. Simply tie a little gold bell or spray paint a pine cone with the same gold to give your table a little understated elegance.
#4. Scattered pine cones are an easy way to spice up a holiday table. Use evergreen “greens” in your flower arrangements to tie in the “pine-y” look for your centerpieces. Keeping your linens neutral and flat in fabric choice will help your table “look” clean with all the wonderful texture in your centerpiece.Little tealight size lanterns complete the tablescape perfectly!
#5. Love Navy but don’t think it will work for the holidays? Think again! It’s all about texture and the right hue of Navy Blue. Add an elegant white, silver, or gold charger that mirrors the design of your flatware. In this tablescape, the gold rimmed glassware picks up the gold handles in the bouillon/soup bowl tying the design together beautifully.
#6. Plums, lavenders, and burgundy are ever so regal for the holidays….Real Designer Tip: ask your florist to use the same hues of plum and burgundy in your floral arrangements. You can even bring them one of your napkins so they can coordinate accordingly.
#7. Metallics are a wonderful choice for holiday tables. Everyone has “silver” flatware, so it’s an easy place to start. Match a metallic charger with your flatware and using a pretty metallic napkin ring keeps your guests’ placesetting tied together nicely.
#8. For those who love bling! don’t be afraid to incorprate a little sparkly texture into your table. This can easily be done with ribbon or sparkly snowflakes, ornaments, or garland in the center of the table (like a table runner) or scattered around each place setting.
#9. Here’s a great example of country-elegance for a holiday table. The teal damask wrapped guest favors at each place-setting is a wonderful pop of color and texture on the table. Softening it up a bit, the pale yellow roses against the rustic barn-board table runner anchor this tablescape. Adding scattered mercury glass as part of the table’s centerpiece picks up the subtle metallic in the teal gift wrapping as well. Perfection!
#10: Winter white is a beautiful choice for any table, any season, and any occasion. White is the perfect blank canvas for gourmet “foodie” hosts. Creating a simple country-style centerpiece with fresh herbs adds just enough to the table, and will be the perfect accessory to any meal you are serving.
