Here’s part 2 of our Holiday Party Dress Ideas article! : Black, Glitter, Gold & Silver!
There are so many fun cocktail dresses to choose from! And if you are planning a wedding and haven’t chosen your bridesmaid dresses yet, keep the words “Style, Inspiration, & Design” in mind while shopping… it will help you streamline your holiday party outfit shopping...here’s how...
For “Style” think about the dress “Style” or mood you create when choosing a dress..
And then after you choose your dress, keep the Design in mind when pairing accessories to create your “look”…
We’ve put a few ensembles together for you for Inspiration to help you put your perfect Holiday Party “look” together when shopping.
For the ultimate in cocktail party “traditional” for your holiday party, this beautiful vintage-style v-neck crepe bodice dress is perfection. The tuille overlay gives the right amount of “party” feel to the dress design. We added a contemporary strappy sandal to bring the look to the present time along with a black glitter clutch to give the ensemble a little holiday bling.
Same dress, but adding a bit of gold to the look… We added the beautiful Oscar de la Renta clutch and change the shoe to a simple Stuart Weitzman strappy sandal to anchor the look and keep it simple. There’s a lot going on with this beautiful cocktail party dress… Style Tip: Keep your accessories simple when your dress is as fabulous as this one!
Another all black look… the dress design on it’s own is very “traditional cocktail party” but to bring it forward to the present time, the designer chose a shiny-netted fabric giving it more movement in the texture department. Mirroring that texture, we chose a shoe with a similar “netting” feel to tie the ensemble together. Style tip: With all the wonderful texture in this dress, keep your bag simple and with clean lines so you don’t overwhelm your ensemble’s overall “look”.
This asemetrical dress is perfect for any body-type. We chose the same gladiator -style strappy sandal to mirror the draped effect in the dress design. As in the previous ensemble, we chose a simple black clutch to let the dress be the focal point.
Love all the peplum cocktail dresses this year!! Perfect for holiday parties! (and for all body types too) To give this holiday party look a little more oompf, we chose a fab Christian Louboutin and a Chanel clutch to complete the ensemble.
Back to the traditional holiday party cocktail dress feel… This V-neck cocktail dress is also perfect for any wearer. To make this Holiday Party ensemble a little more contemporary, we added a gladiator-style bootie and the cutest little black clutch with subtle lined texture to mirror the booties.
Inching into metallics…. This Diane Von Furstenberg little black cocktail dress is fabulous. Ms. Von Furstenberg’s St. Petersburg “Fit & Flare” dress features capped sleeves, laser cut edges and ribbed detailing thoughout. The laser cut edges gives a metallic feel to the hemline, so we played that up by adding a silver Stuart Weitzman strappy sandal and silver clutch with subtle “lines” in the bag design to mirror the laser cuts in the dress and the straps of the shoe.
This is my personal favorite…love this Emanuel Ungaro leather trimmed frill dress!! Even with the frills and extra texture in the dress with the leather detail, we took a chance and added Alexander Mcqueen’s applique metallic leather pumps in silver to make this Holiday Party ensemble a little extra special. We brought Ms. Von Furstenberg back in the accessory piece with her beautiful crystal embellished clutch from her Sutra bag line.
Right into metallics now with silver! Style tip: It’s okay to mix Silver & Gold, especially at holiday time! Have fun with it! Using this Silver Holiday Party Dress idea for example, we added a soft-muted Gold evening bag to show how easy it is … so beautiful!!
Love metallics but don’t want to be too blingy? Try copper! This adorable dress from Modcloth is ultra feminine. Paired with a muted gold evening clutch (with a little sparkle) and copper strappy sandals to mirror the color in the dress detail.. this look is absolutely right for Holiday party time!
For those wanting a little extra bling in their holiday party dresses… look for a beaded shift dress! Remember to keep your accessories simplified with any dress that has this much movemment to anchor your look and keep it from looking too busy.
And yes! you can wear white for the holidays… White and muted gold or silver is beautiful… and so festive! We picked up the glitter in the dress with the muted glittery Stuart Weitzman strappy sandal, and added a gold Oscar de la Renta belt so we could add a gold clutch for the bag choice.
