Fun Functional Wedding Favors ..Ideasand how to choose the best wedding favor for your wedding!
Real Wedding Planner Advice from Portsmouth, NH Wedding Planners at Lisa Sammons Events,
There are so many fun functional wedding favor ideas to create!
Real Wedding Planner Advice: The first thing LSE talks about with clients when they mention wedding favors is they should have a dual purpose and be functional (to help the wedding budget). Ask your wedding planner for ideas on how to tie in your wedding style/theme & details to create functionality in this piece. The easiest way is to create a favor that doubles as an escort card for guests.
Another thing LSE suggests is if a bride & groom is more liberal in their wedding design/theme, then do choose a wedding favor that is something their wedding guests can actually use! Thoughtful wedding favor ideas are essential oils or lip balm that fit easily into a guest’s clutch, or a homemade bath-salt concoction.
There is nothing worse than wrapping up a wedding or event for a client and seeing all the favors that were lovingly created (and paid for!!) left behind, so really put some thought into it (and ask your wedding planner for ideas!!)
Although LSE is a full service wedding planning firm (serving Portsmouth, Newport, Boston, New York :)) Real Wedding Planners at Lisa Sammons Events suggest to their clients to get their “DIY” going when it comes to their wedding favors. Most brides want to get their hands into the wedding process, so this is a perfect way to satisfy this urge, and to save money in the process!
Another Real Wedding Planner Advice “pro-tip” is to include your favors as part of your dessert bar.
Individual mini desserts that are pre-packaged or can be easily packaged by guests in the moment (i.e. candy station/bar) to take home with them….Edible Favors are always a crowd pleaser!
As wedding transportation is a great way to get your wedding guests from accommodations to wedding reception site – even setting up a little “parting gift” area by your trolley or bus location is a great way to send off guests with a little snack for their trip home. This can also satisfy the obligatory “late night snack” idea that most brides and grooms want as part of their wedding reception. (and will save you $ too)
Another thing to consider is how many of your wedding guests are travelling far distances (i.e. mass transit – train/plane) to and from your wedding. Real Wedding Planner Advice: As thoughtful, beautiful, yummy as some favors are ….You’ll want to consider a wedding favor that won’t break or leak when packed and jostled during their travels.
Great suggestions for this are a little chotchkie or knick-knack (that is functional of course!) Ideas could be a personalized bottle opener, lip balm, even a personalized drink cozy ….OR! …Back to food for a moment…..some packaged candy for your guests trip back home.
No matter what you decide, it will be thoughtful, and lovely. Wedding favors are one of the areas when planning your wedding you can really get creative with and have fun producing!
